People who go abroad without first buying worldwide travel insurance could potentially face court action if they're involved in an accident.Travel insurance specialist InsureandGo said that if backpackers or other tourists don't buy some form of travel insurance and have an accident that results in somebody else getting injured badly enough that they can't work, they could find themselves in court getting sued.Perry Wilson, founder of InsureandGo, said that travellers needed to be especially careful when it came to drinking, as Britons had a habit of having their first holiday drink at the airport.Mr Wilson said: "The big thing is personal accident. It's not just you. If you run into somebody else [on a ski slope] and break their leg, in this modern day of litigation, if they can't go to work, you will be taken to court."He added that too many Britons risked great expense by going on ski holidays without travel insurance.
